They say you can't pick your family. That said, it may be fun to at least imagine that you could.
Who would you pick?
I sometimes wish my mom was Google.
When you have a question you type it into Google and you get an answer. You don't even need to click on any results because most of the time the answer your looking for is in the quick results on the first page. "Is Terence Trent Darby still Alive?" for example. Apparently yes. Who knew. Google that's who, Booya!
If I asked that same question to my mom, I would first have to explain who that is at which point I would begin to regret asking her altogether. Then once she realized I was talking about a pop culture icon from the 80's she would be reminded of what song he was famous for and then try to hum it to get the full effect of the nostalgia she was trying to summon. My sister is worse. I once asked her when the Spanish/American war was - I was looking for a year - four digits. She proceeded to pull out a text book and read from it out loud. I didn't mean to be rude but my eyes completely glazed over and I went into a sort of dream like state where I thought I was going to fall down. Both of them really should have known better, they were present when the shrink diagnosed me with A.D.D.. Speaking of that shrink, he was wearing two different coloured socks that day, was that on purpose to see if I would notice? huh.
I digress. I just wish some people would be able to read an audience and recognize when they are losing that audience. If a simple question is asked - answer it simply. If more information is required wait for a follow up question that invites more details.
That is all.
